Ankor + Conquer Divide Live Review 11/02/2025

I'd be hard pressed to advise anyone against going to see this tour. The calibre of the bands involved was through the roof, and especially with the more than reasonable ticket prices, it would be foolish not to go.

Album Review: Savage Lands / Army of the Trees

The almost non-descript cover of Army of the Trees by Savage Lands is a contradiction for the musical savagery that is unleashed whilst remaining highly symbolic of what Army of the Trees stands for.

LEADFEATHER / ROLL THE DICE  EP – 14/2/25

Put together by award winning composer and guitarist Simon Hurts last year, this four piece, based in London are fronted by ‘Apostolos’ who you may recall from the defunct ‘Hunted By Elephants’. This six track EP was recorded live and put down in just three days by Simon, in his own Silver Feather studios. The result is very much the retro 70’s style that ‘Leadfeather’ are seeking and they wouldn’t have been out of place if they’d been around in that era.

CRY FOR MERCY / THIS MACHINE – 5/4/25

Cry For Mercy have been compared to ‘Free’ and ‘Bad Company’ and vocalist Kev Plant certainly has a ‘Paul Rodgers’ type of quality, however this ‘power trio’ from North Wales fall somewhere between Blues and more earthy power Rock. Forming back in 2018 this is the bands third album and the 12 tracks are a mix of faster tunes and ballads that have heartfelt meaning. Kev, also on Bass is joined by h

DELLA NOVA / DELLA NOVA  Self Release  13/12/24

They say the best rock and roll music was written when the creator was high on some illegal substance. Alice Cooper and Keith Richard could certainly credit being intoxicated, as the means to writing some of their most popular songs.

THE ALMIGHTY / GIRLSCHOOL – 28/11/24    KK’s STEEL MILL

MIGHTY  are on stage at 9pm to front the massive crowd. The queue for T Shirts has dwindled a little now, there were about thirty people waiting patiently for merchandise earlier, I wish I still had my ‘The Almighty’ vest, prices have risen sharply since the early 90’s ! Anyhow back on stage Ricky Warwick and the guys have launched into ‘Crucify’ the first of 22 songs tonight and all are off the early albums from 1989 to 1994.

MIKE MONROE / C J WILDHEART  – KK’s STEEL MILL  – 28/11/24

Mike Monroe is only playing a couple of headline dates in the UK, (apart from Planet Rockstock ), to celebrate 40yrs since the launch of the ‘Two Steps From The Move’ album. He’s chosen KK’s as one of them and as the other was in London, the venue in Wolverhampton is full. I bump into friends who I haven’t seen in years and after meeting up with my MMH photographer David Rattenbury to discuss tactics, I move down the front to get a decent view.

Album Review: Steel Inferno / Rush Of Power

I’m pleased to report that Rush Of Power by Steel Inferno does exactly what it says on the album cover. Released this week, good melodies along with consistently heavy and fast riffs, bass, and drum lines make Rush Of Power a real pleasure to listen to.
