Swedish rockers “Eternal Fear” return to our shores with their fifth album “Killing Time”. Fresh from a UK tour with “Left for Red”, they are ready to unleash their blend of classic British heavy metal with a modern twist upon the world.

First things first, this album doesn’t re-invent the wheel. If you are looking for ground breaking ideas and a completely new sound then you are looking in the wrong place. The beauty of this album is that it sounds like a classic metal album. There are hints of modern influences scattered throughout, however overall, this is a classic, solid metal album.

The thing that stands out most for e whilst listening to this album is the vocal performance from Ove Johnsson. There are many bands around trying to capture the glory of the NWOBHM and failing. Where most of them seem to fall short is their vocalist just doesn’t possess the dominating voice needed. Ove Johnnson is the exact opposite. His captivating voice and brilliantly written lyrics will have any metal fan singing along.

The stand out track on this album is without a doubt the fantastically catchy “Halls of Odin”. With dark and memorable lyrics and guitars reminiscent of any air guitar anthem, “Halls of Odin” wouldn’t be out of place on a “Judas Priest” album. Third track “Black Country” (which you can see performed live below) is a much rougher and heavier track. Those of you who like your metal darker, heavier, and full of riffs, then this is the song for you.

All in all, “Killing Time” is a solid album, from a solid band. They do an excellent job of capturing the sound of the NWOBHM for the modern day. If you like classic, no bullshit metal, then this is the band for you!
