Review: Electus – Rock N Roll Incarnate Part One
Some bands feel the need to try and reinvent the wheel when they record an album. They toil over every single note in a quest to create a whole new listening experience. Some bands enter the studio, play some rock n roll and retire to the local pub, celebrating a job well done. In this case, that job well done is ‘Rock N Roll incarnate part One’ by Electus.
The second album from the Midlands based rockers, Rock N Roll incarnate part 1 is something for the hard rock fan in all of us, without being stereotypical, ploddy and boring as a lot of hard rock has been in recent years. It is true, this album has a uniqueness to it, a groove that is undeniably one of the coolest things you will hear this week! This is the album that hard rock fans need and can be held up high for all the other bands to see, this is how you bring rock n roll to the modern day.
First single ‘Ticket to Nowhere’ is one of the songs that really captures the almost quirky nature of this band. Frontman Russell Peake’s vocal delivery is captivating whilst the overall sound is something so classically hard rock whilst still managing to mix it up a bit. Also, if you watch the music video, you would be forgiven for thinking that their vocalist is in fact WWE’s Finn Balor.
Songs such as ‘Running Around’ catch the true essence of a good rock n roll song. Its fast, its loud and it has an ear splitting guitar solo that a certain Aussie school boy could be proud of. The verses are fast paced, almost punk fuelled shouts whilst the chorus is an instant sing along classic, perfect for a live rock n roll show, where the beer is flowing and good times are being had by all.
All I can say about Rock N Roll Incarnate Part One is that it is exactly the sort of album that should be being paraded and hailed by the hard rock community. It should be used as a good kick in the teeth to bands that think they can get away with producing the same old stale sound. Electus have truly lived up to the title, they are ‘Rock N Roll Incarnate’.
