A true tale of tragedy and triumph, Decapitated have overcome adversity and are thriving more than ever before. A fatal automobile crash splintered their line up in 2007, but a brief spell on the sidelines saw a reinvigorated roster return in 2009. Mainman Vogg’s distinctive riffing is the linchpin of the group, with their modern sound combining their original tech death leanings with crushing grooves. One thing you can count on: these Poles will pack a punch and are sure to incite some pit activity from the Bloodstock faithful.

Writers’ pick: It has to be Winds of Creation, which still stands as one of the most staggering debut releases in metal history. It is sadly neglected in current setlists, so you’d be wiser to opt for their three most recent albums if you’re seeking to familiarise yourself with their music (review of their latest, Anticult, here).
