From humble beginnings in 1979, 220 Volt are remembered in the Swedish music scene with much fondness. Among the top hard rock acts in Scandinavia during the 80s and releasing their first, self-titled album on CBS in June 1983, the band then went on to release five albums between then and 1988; the last one “Eye To Eye” being their best-selling album internationally.
There’s been a few changes over the intervening years; Anders Engberg (ex-Therion and Lions Share), who joined the group in late 2012, is the new voice of the band, but founding members Thomas Drevin and Mats Karlsson still handle the guitars, with drummer Peter Hermansson completing the line-up.
In the old days, the band’s reputation was built on frequent album releases and energetic live shows and it is expected that these guys will once again launch themselves on to the live circuit now this new album is released.
