SLASH FEAT MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS / MAMMOTH WVH – RESORTS WORLD BHAM 30/3/24 

Who wouldn’t want to be here at the Resorts World or NEC ( for those old enough to remember that name )tonight ? The queue of avid Slash and Myles Kennedy fans waiting to go through the tightened security checks, stretched back hundreds of yards and with Wolfgang Van Halen’s ‘Mammoth WVH’ as support, this was going to be an epic show. I found my seat and thankfully it was near the front, after waving to friends, who had bagged a prime position on the barrier, I noticed the atmosphere soon warmed as the arena began to fill.

The Outlaw Orchestra/ Born To Be A Thief – NEW SINGLE 16/2/24

The Outlaw Orchestra have released their third single and video titled 'Born To Be A Thief' from the forthcoming album 'La Familia' (Due mid 2024).  Back to bare roots in a head on collision with hard rock. This track is full bodied ambience and atmospheric indulgence, harmonies backed by banjo conjuring a Fleetwood Mac feel and allowing space for each instrument to stand alone as the drums build the track towards its rocking blues solo finale.

FLORENCE BLACK/JAMES AND THE COLD GUN/MUDDIBROOKE-KK’S 6/2/24 

The rain was lashing down as I made my way to KK’s. Of course the weather didn’t deter an army of rock fans from descending on the venue, as Florence Black were in town. A soaking Tuesday night and it was packed. Three bands on the bill and my first viewing of the supports. After meeting up friends and MMH photographer Dal, it was down to the front to watch the openers.

NEW SAINTS / RESONATE EP  –  9/2/24  

A four track EP hails the return of this much loved Black Country band. RESONATE sees founder members Connor Emms on vocals and drummer Des Wootton joined by Jon Hayward on bass and Rob Grosvenor on guitar. They are taking it a bit easy for a short while as Des is recovering from an operation, however, the band will be hitting stages soon to promote this new masterpiece. Last year saw the beginning of the restructuring with the EP being recorded and then produced by Andy Mills then a support show with Geoff Tate, where the guys were applauded by the audience who chanted their name out loud, in the full venue. After a hiatus of 12 years, following the sad passing of bassist Andy ‘Spon’ Spencer, the NEW SAINTS are back.

The SOS Festival at Whittles in Oldham is one of the most popular grassroot events of the rocking year. To celebrate the fifteenth anniversary, this years line-up is stupendous. DEMENTIA AWARE FESTIVAL / STATION CANNOCK  – 20/1/24 

The first gig of the year for me, after a bit of a break, I’m starting to get back into the swing of things. What better way to get the 2024 ball rolling than the Dementia Aware Fest at the Station in Cannock. I met Dave Evans on the door and got a massive hug, so good to see him although sadly this is the last ‘Dementia’ he’s organising. As soon as I walk into the venue I bump into friends I haven’t seen for months and some have travelled quite a long way to be here today. It’s like a big party to be honest, the atmosphere is so laidback and it seems everyone knows each other, by the end of the night I’m sure we’ll all be linked on social media !
