Thursday night saw legendary master of the six strings, Michael Schenker and his group embark on the first of seven dates in the UK and Ireland and MMH Radio was privileged to attend, albeit in a pictorial role on this occasion. The MSG had as their special guests a very impressive four piece from oop north, Lancashire way, Wytch Hazel, who gave us a forty minute set with ten excellent tunes of metal and rock, which seem to have slight occult overtones, something which their stage attire would point to. Great set, nonetheless.

With the packed arena building up the atmosphere, the lights went dim and a voice boomed “Ladies and gentlemen, will you welcome Michael Schenker with My Years in UFO”. The scene had been set perfectly for the main man himself to make his entrance to rapturous applause and cheering and we were straight into the first of sixteen classics and evergreens, and nothing more need be said, to be honest! Was good to see Swedish vocalist, Erik Grönwall of Skid Row fame, back in action after missing a few earlier dates due to a family emergency. Family first always, Erik!

Thanks to both bands for a truly great night.
