Mallory Knox, Shvpes, and Templeton Pek… The Love Sucks Ball

What to do on a fine Valentines evening other than go to spend it with my two loves, my camera and music. Kerrang! Radio hosted, along with Johnny Doom and Jon Mahon, a Love Sucks Ball at The Asylum Venue in Birmingham and I was there to capture some moments from the night.

The night started off with local acts Templeton Pek. They may be local but these guys are no stranger to playing shows after sharing the stage with acts such as Bad Religion! These punks kicked off the night right, getting people ready for a night of great music and warming up the stage nicely for the second act of the night, Shvpes.

Shvpes wasted no time kicking off their set with a lot of energy. It was hard to believe they weren’t the main act with they were they owned the stage. This energy translated well with the crowd who were extremely receptive to the Birmingham based band; there was a lot of hometown love that night.

The headliners, Mallory Knox, closed out the show bringing their hugely successful Cambridgeshire rock with them. Playing a range of hits from their insanely successful debut album, Signals, right through to brand new unrealised material. Sam, the bassist, has really stepped up from backing vocals to lead vocals after the departure of Mikey Chapman.

Overall it was a night filled with awesome bands in an intimate setting, perfect for such an intimate time of year.
