It’s a funny old world we live in, eight weeks ago I was trawling through YouTube scrolling for things to watch and I came across a video on Musora for a-ha’s Take on Me done in a progressive metal style. I can honestly Say I hadn’t heard of Leprous at this point (yeah, I’m a philistine, shoot me) So I watched the video with interest.
I was totally blown away by Einar Solberg’s incredible voice, Baard Kolstad’s breathtaking drumming and the tightness of the bands coming together of a-ha’s very first ever hit and turning it from a pop classic into a progressive metal slice of heaven.
So a couple of weeks later on a Wednesday afternoon an email comes through from a PR wanting someone to review Leprous – An Evening of Atonement it just felt like this is meant to be and so here we are reviewing quite possibly one of the best live albums of 2025 and from quite possibly one of the best Progressive Metal bands to come out of Norway in the last twenty years.

Recorded at Poppodium 013 in Amsterdam where fifteen years before they supported Unleash the Architects during the ProgStage Tour.
Twenty-one tracks with enough of Leprous’ current and back catalogue to keep fans old and new happy. Being an old romantic at heart I prefer the more relaxed music such as Castaway Angels, Alleviate, Below, Passing and Distant Bells
Don’t worry though there is enough growly Leprous chucked into the mix as well like From the Flame and The Sky Is Red amongst others.
The album comes in different flavours with a limited 2 CD and Blu-ray of the album plus the concert from Tilburg of which at the time of writing this review have all gone, damn.
A gatefold 3LP on 180g vinyl in the following variants: Black vinyl (unlimited) and Apricot coloured vinyl limited to 500 copies and a digital album.
Available to buy today from, Inside Out Music, Bandcamp, HMV, Amazon and pretty much all streaming platforms.
