Whilst Misanthropic Vision are a relatively new project, the faces of the four are well known to regulars bearing much local metal DNA – most especially from legendary doomsters Dark Prophecy.

Each of their songs is a musical journey built around Brandon J.D’s sonorous guitar arpeggios and Eryn Batstone’s lyrical, soaring soprano. They produce moments of real beauty before the fearsome engine room of Freddie and Raven explodes, the amps crank and Eryn flips from angel to demon and releases her diabolic scream.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next from these guys.

Nobody sleeps whilst King Attitude are on … but then, frankly, nobody wants to. The spirit of punk is right here in Swindon with the band charging through no fewer than 10 songs in their 28 minutes.

Every number is short, fast and loud. The only exceptions being the odd couple that are, you know … , shorter, faster and louder!

Shouter in chief Tim King prowls the tiny stage with brooding menace as he calls the crowd to sing with him. Most do.

Originals like Blood, Beer and Something Wrong with My Head sit easily next to expertly curated covers such as Song 2, R.A.M.O.N.E.S and the eponymous Attitude – the Misfits classic.

King Attitude never disappoint.

It’s easy to see that I See Orange have just returned from a short tour of the United States. For one thing they have a new bubble gun. Way bigger and, well … , bubblier than the old one. The enthusiastic crowd pass it round with extraordinary delight.

More important, though, is how tight and powerful their sound has become and the even greater confidence the band exudes. Just a three-piece they fill the room with a big opulent sound.

I See Orange ooze class. Their hour long set is brim full of ear worms that have you humming along all the way home. Opener, The Witch, sets the tempo closely followed by the emotionally charged Love Me Too and the anthemic Simply.

Bewitching and brilliant in equal measure, Giselle Medina has a wonderfully evocative vocal delivery – not just using her voice but also facial expressions – especially her eyes – to convey the emotional message of each song.

Her ethereal vocal sits on top of the sonic tsunami created by her own growling bass, Cameron Hill’s expansive guitars and wild man Charlie Hunt’s thunderous drumming. Together they generate a powerful, cohesive heft that takes you right back to 90’s Seattle.

Their debut album is out in just a month with an album launch party right back here at the Vic. Can’t wait.
