Loaded with hard rock and punk attitude, IN/VERTIGO will be unleashing their latest EP Prevail next week. IN/VERTIGO were formed back in 2016 and are known as modern hard rocking stalwarts of the Western Canadian rock scene. Their first, and sold out, self-titled demo was produced by Ronnie Champagne (Alice In Chains and Jane’s Addiction), and their debut EP Sex, Love & Chaos was also well received. On the back of this alone, there is little doubt that Prevail will make a similar splash on the scene. Prevail was recorded at The Sound Priory and mastered at Sole Audio.

Not only do IN/VERTIGO tour extensively themselves, but they have also shared stages with big name bands such as Buckcherry, Diamond Head and Steel Panther. Along with great vocals, a healthy dose of hard rock, punk and aggression, Prevail by IN/VERTIGO is definitely one to check out.
The four track EP opens with Weathervane, with its aggressive thrash drumlines and dirty riffs. IN/VERTIGO work well together vocally, and this comes through early in the track. Moving into the next track Save Me, the rock gets faster and harder, with once again, the thrash drumline notching up the aggression. Combined with punk overtones and a decent riff, this makes it a seriously heavyweight track. The powerful vocal capabilities of lead Reed Alton also shine through, and I have to say that this is the track that should be doing the “walk of shame” after the night showcased in the official video – which you can check out here:
The aggressive pace continues moving into the third track Liar but then slows down as the EP moves into the final track, Euphoria. Along with Save Me, this was my other favourite track on Prevail. Although a slower track, it does contain some great musical and lyrical hooks within.
Across the tracks, lyrics fall within the usual categories of life, lust and love, and they offer up plenty of catchy hooks. Although IN/VERTIGO categorise themselves as modern rock; at times, it does feel like there is throwback to the big arena rock bands of times past – and this does work! IN/VERTIGO was a new find for me and although I did really enjoy Prevail, I would like to see them release an album next time as I just got the feeling that Prevail was only scratching the surface of what they can do.
Prevail is released on 18th July 2025 via Rockshots Records and you listen through the usual streaming platforms, including Spotify. To find out more about the band, take a look at their website, Facebook or Instagram.
