After months of fans hounding them, Crown the Empire are ready to make their next stance in the music world as they finally release jaw-dropping new single “20/20.”
It’s been a hot minute since Crown the Empire graced fans with some juicy breakdowns. Fans have been avidly waiting since the release of their last album “Retrograde” in 2016, and the stakes only got higher when Vocalist Dave Escamilla left the band in late January of 2017. “20/20” sends the Texas band into a heavier direction, continuing the “Retrograde” instrumental sound but intertwining heavier, grittier vocals through-out the song that dawn back to their earlier sound from their breakthrough album “The Fallout.”
Now more than ever Crown the Empire are subject to scrutinization under a microscopic lens, as the band has soared through a rollercoaster of changes since their last album that posed possibly drastic changes to their music, the most notable event being the departure of vocalist Dave Escamilla in late January 2017. The band took to Facebook to explain that their relationship with Escamilla got “messy” and after taking time to re-group they’re now stronger and more “bonded” than ever. In the statement, they mention that Escamilla wasn’t “the heart of what made Crown- Crown” and that they’ve “never heard of seen Dave make anything, artistically or musically in the 4 years he was in our band, so we’re just as excited to see what he does make as you are.”
Anticipation heightened since his departure to see if then clean vocalist Andy Leo would be able to fill his shoes and where his vocals would take the band in their future musical escapades. Whilst they’ve had astounding live performances where Leo’s vocal range has been put to the test and has been nothing short of phenomenal, their new single “20/20” has given fans the needed clarity this loss wasn’t detrimental for Crown The Empire.
As well as being their first single in over a year, “20/20” smashes through the window rather than knocking on the door to let fans know that Crown The Empire is back and better than ever. Crown the Empire will be touring the UK this year on these dates:
